Watchmen

Dan ‘gived me a borrow’ of the famous graphic novel “Watchmen” at the weekend, the film is due out next year (as far as I can tell the jury is still out). Will let you know what I think of the book, but it’s shaping up nicely so far..

Hope you likey. I think it was originally inked in 1984 so dating issues aside i still reckon its pretty stylish and worthy of its classic status.

the film helmer is Zach Synder of 300 fame. apparently he wants to stay very faithful to the source material in terms of look and feel. early scene shots and character pics posted on t’net look tasty.

As ever, anything with a cult or hardcore fan base will be doubtless prompting interent wide teeth gnashing at the prospect of a work of art being sold short in it’s transition to film (we’ve all felt that….remaking ‘Get Carter?’ - fucking morons). I personally haven’t got a wide knowledge of the graphic novel genre but while ‘300′ may have failed in the content department it was stylistically brilliant for me….is there hope for the film of this?, thoughts?

So, Watchmen. Started it, finished it, loved it. It’s like Philip K Dick but with pictures.

Books! Books! Books are so last century. If a story is good enough it will be made into a film and you can absorb it in 1hr 30mins usually and you’ll save yourself hours of reading time which you can devot to something else.
